Handcrafted neon signs in Linz — since 1949
Neon signage is more than illumination — it is a statement. The warm, even glow of real neon tubes has a character that no LED alternative can fully replicate. It is no coincidence that neon is experiencing a revival in hospitality, retail and art.
NEONGEISSLER carries neon in its name — and for good reason. Since 1949, we have been crafting real neon tubes by hand. Each glass tube is individually bent, filled with noble gas and brought to life. This traditional craft is mastered by only a handful of workshops in Austria. For applications where shatter resistance or flexibility are required, we also offer LED flex neon — with a near-identical look, but made from flexible silicone instead of glass.

Real neon tubes are bent over an open flame into the desired shape — letter by letter. Filled with neon or argon gas, they produce the distinctive warm glow that no LED can replicate.

Frequently asked questions
Are real neon tubes still being made?
Yes! Real neon tubes are still handcrafted today. At NEONGEISSLER, we have mastered this traditional craft since our founding. Each tube is individually bent and filled with noble gas.
What is the difference between neon and LED neon?
Real neon tubes produce a warm, even light through gas-filled glass tubes — a distinctive look. LED neon (flex neon) imitates the look using LED strips in silicone casings. We offer both, but recommend real neon for an authentic appearance.
How long do neon tubes last?
With proper care, real neon tubes last 8–15 years or longer. The glass tubes are robust, and the noble gas filling barely loses luminosity. If a defect occurs, individual tube sections can be repaired or replaced.
Can existing neon installations be repaired?
Yes, we repair and restore existing neon signage and neon artworks. Even historic neon signs can be faithfully refurbished to their original condition.
